my spoiler and my front bumper have some pretty nasty peeling going on and i was wondering what the best "cheap" method for fixing it would be?
im thinking of ither wetsanding down the peeling clear then applying a few coats of spray can clear then sanding/polishing?
or sanding the clear off then painting over the paint with a couple coats of new paint then wetsand/clear/polish?
i picked up a can of this duplicolour "perfect match" paint at canadian tire and painted my rear mud guard with it. its not a 100% match to the original colour but its very close and with some wetsanding/polishing i think it should match pretty well. btw my car is "blaze red" and the paint i used is crysler "flame red"
here is the peeling clear

heres the rear mud guard

and here is a test spot. i made a line of paint in the middle of my old door and its almost impossible to tell.

i just did a little research and i think fords "cardinal red" is the same as madas "blaze red"
according to this blaze reds code is sq
http://www.mx-3.com/colours/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
according to this sq comes up as fords cardinal red
https://www.duplicolor.com/color_selection.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
at $11 a can you cant beat it. im not sure but you can probably colour match the rest of the colours for a cheap paint source.

Just wetsand the whole car. Then hit it with some rubbing compound. That paint looks wiked close.

You're going need to wetsand whole area and then apply 2 coats of paint. Once clear coat is peeled off, base coat (paint) is damaged by moisture, uv rays and other contaminants.

thanks for the advice ill give it a try and post my results.
as for the mud guards they turned out almost matt compared to the glossy car. whats the best way to make it shine? just some rubbing polish or wax? or should i wet sand that starting at 800 and ending up at 1500 or 2000 then some polish? i think sanding would be the best route as the surface isnt perfect but im open to advice...

You need to clear coat over paint to give it gloss/protect paint from elements.

Only had satin clear coat? Sanding clear coat won't make it glossier. You can go to your local autobody supply store and get a can of good clear coat. U POL has a good clear in orange can.

yeah sanding didnt do anything. i was able to get it a bit shinier with the 2000grit but nothing near what i wanted. i ended up grabbing another can of paint and the clear coat it reccomended on the can. it turned out alot better then the first one i did.
question about sanding the spoiler? am i supposed to sand all of the clear coat off? i was at it for 2 or 3 hours and i wasnt even close to getting it all off. it also took a retardedly long time to even pop the air bubbles in the clear let alone smooth them out. i ended up switching to 180grit dry paper and went over the rest. im probably gonna sand for another 20-30min tomorrow then start to paint.

intresting. so i shouldnt throw it on the car as soon as its dry to the touch? i got it painted today but theres a few bugs that landed in the finish. its turning out pretty good so far. im going to slightly sand it with 2000grit then another caot of paint then clear. will the paint/clear stick after ive sanded with 2000grit? or should i lightly scuff where i sand with 800grit?
