My ATX to MT. =/

Ok so as with my first post I gave some details about the car and issues its having. Supposedly the ATX was rebuilt 4000 miles ago but that was over a span of the last 5 years. This thing is now slipping like a biotch. When getting on the on ramps and hitting my passing gear it shoots up to 7K then I have to let off in fear of blowing up. It recatches about 4K and speeds up a little then flies back up to 7K. Needless to say the ATX is pissing me off.

I was at the JYard today and found a 1992 MX-3 GS ( Purple ) in fantastic shape and almost completely un-raped.
The car has some 120,xxx miles and the underside look almost spotless. I checked for all the main components for the MTX hardware for the sway and everything seems to be there minus the M-cylinder. They also happen to have a 1993 MX-6 LS with the KLDE and 5mtx. ( this trans would work right ? would I need the shafts ? )

So my main questions are : Which trans is better - MX-3 5 speed or MX-6 5 speed ?

Which flywheel is better / lighter ? MX-3 - MX-6 ?

Is this my complete shopping list :
MTX , Linkage , Shifter Assembly , 3-pedal assembly , Slave cylinder , Flywheel, "Plan to order new clutch kit." Hydrolic lines, Starter ? , CV Shafts ?

What is a realistic timeline for the swap ? This is my D.D. as my 97 Tahoe kills me on gas. Also what could I expect to run into that I should plan ahead for ?

Go with the mx-3 flywheel or simply go with a fidanza. You can use an Mx6/PGT V6 clutch kit and the mx3 flywheel like I did (if not fidanza) for a little better performance. make sureyou also get the top transmission mount for an mtx and make sure you get the cmc push-rod too :)

It wasn't there =( so i'm going to have to buy one. I will hit it up wednesday after I get off work. I tinkered with undoing a bunch of in-the-way-crap removal today when I shot down there for some other stuff. Hopefully nobody monopolizes off my hard work :? I'll probably create a work log with an A-load of HD photos and maybe some vids.

Also what other vehicles can I snag the master off of ? I would like to be as budget minded as possible with this. Just had a baby in Nov. and nothing really prepared me for how expensive they are

I believe any K or B series engine'd car.

323 being most common. Master unbolts from inside.

Unless the MX-6 has really high mileage, I recommend getting the tranny from it, since it has a taller 5th gear. You'd save gas, and engine noise on the freeway.

Where are you located? Are you sure the MX-3 isn't a 93 SE? If it has leather seats/ shift knob/ steering wheel, you should get them :)

UTAH unfortunately.

Yeah it has the leather works. Trashed though from what I could see.

I recall the mileage being roughly 205 K.

Ok so they crushed both cars sometime between then and now =(

I did manage to find a probe GT with the v-6 and manual trans.

Will the linkage & shifter from the probe GT work ?

Only paid $75.00 for the trans =D

Also if anyone needs KL01 cams let me know since they ( whoever ) stripped the top half of the engine and left the heads in the car with cams uncovered. The look real good too.

Ok so I tore into it a bit today. I fould that one of the fluid lines had a clog in it and I suspect that to play part in the sliping issue between 4 & 7k. I put everything back together after flushing the trans and lines out and like magic - no slipping lol.

Anyways i'm still moving forward with the ATX to MTX plan since I already purchased all the stuff for it.
