Its 100% as easy as swapping cams.

Thats a good combo anyway, DE heads are stronger. Just remember the port shape is different, so you may want to consider picking up a DE manifold too.

Maybe Jesse would have you port and polish it :P

...and knife edge the intake and hourglass the throttle body and swap out all the glass for lexan and put a martini shaker under the hood and bigger hotter sparkier wires and a wideband O2sensor and all that will add up to exactly 200.351hp but you'll have better mid range power than anyone else because you said so.

Just jokin Jesse...but not really...but all in fun.

So just to get it running I can swap Cams and upper intake and she will run tight again

Yeah if you have a donor motor for the heads Just take the intake manifold as
well. It all bolts right up.

You might need to us the DE throttle body too justbecause the BAC valve plugs in on the other side I believe...but you can figure all that out when you get stuff in place.

Is a ze complaint valve that hard to find? Why couldn't you contact a Japanese Mazda dealer and just order a valve

I think that the DE and ZE valves are the same.
How much damage is there otherwise?
If the piston is fine, you can port match the heads pretty easily with a Dremel, or die grinder. If you don't, and just swap the heads, keeping the KL31 cams, you won't have much difference, but it may be noticeable. If you have the KL01 cams (as some ZEs do), they are the same as the DE cams, so you wouldn't need to swap them. Iyou have pheno spacers, you can port match the heads side a little.
Wyt, you forgot how neccessary it is to cut a hole in your bumper  I'll prove you one day... Then you'll be.

Jesse, IIRC ZE intake valves are larger, and DE are all the same as eachother and ZE exhaust.

edited for correctness.

Gonna pull the head Mon to check out the damage then gonna go from there.

IIRC It's actually the intake valves that are bigger and the exhaust valves are the same.

@ OP - I suggest if you do get another motor that has DE cams, just put the ZE cams in it. Even if they are DE heads, with ZE cams they will perform better.

Just saw a post here a couple of days ago with someone who has damaged ZE heads that you could get a valve from. No time to search for it right now sorry.
