Hi Guys,
My car gave me some codes today... (how nice!!)
17... ???
41.. VRIS
46.. VRIS
Both my vris are working but I control them with MSD Window switches.
How can I get rid of these codes ?
Thanks

If the harness connectors for the VRIS are not plugged in the ECU will naturally think there is a problem. The only way to stop the code from being thrown is to reprogram the EPROM the way Probinator does for the EGR.
17 is the closed loop system (the fuel delivery system). That includes the O2 sensors, the injectors, the FPR, and a few others. If you have MS controlling some of the elements of this system it may be causing the ECU to be confused.

Well the wiring harness is still intact.
I connected the Window switches according to the How/to on this website.
I haven´t had the VRIS codes when I first hooked it up (about 1,5 years ago)
My code 17 can be many things... I don´t have any MS installed yet so I don´t expect this is the problem.
What steps could I do to check this code?
*temp sensor
*O2 sensor check
* etc ?

If you have the VRIS plugged in and you're getting a code it's a bad wiring problem I would think.
If you follow the link i posted it tells you how to troubleshoot the closed loop system.

On my 92 MX-3 KLZE with KL08 ECU i pull code 17 daily. I think all KLZEs would pull that code due to there tendancy to run rich.

The wiring diagram shows 2 heated O2 sensors, this is for an OBDII application? Would the same diagnosis steps be true for an OBDI?

OBD1 MX-3's have 2 O2 ensors as well. There is one in each header as opposed to one pre and one post cat as with most OBD2 vehicles. The procedure is the same in botht he 95 and the 92 manual.

I tried to work with the solutions offert here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mx6-uk/mal ... #codeo2s-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Codes 41 / 46
Both my vris are working but I control them with MSD Window switches. ( when applying throttle up to 5k and I can see them opening)
The MSD means cutting the wire to my ECU but still keeping the 12v wire.
(When i installed the MSD window switches it didn't cause these codes voor like 1,5 years).
I checked for broken vacuum lines, there are none.
I checked air flow according to F2-103 of the manual (A-B is verified when there is 12v) (A-C is when there is no voltage)
When checking my solenoids for Ohms this was the result: 1) 41.9 ohm 2) 45.0 ohm (Old intake manifold had 1) 38.1 ohm 2) 123.3 ohm )
Code 17
Switched an IAC sensor (old one had 13.8 ohm, new one has 12.0 ohm), this stopped the jumpy idle)
Looked for broken wires near O2 sensor, couldn't find any.
I don't understand how I can check my O2 sensor according to the elektrical diagram on page F2-86 of the manual. (I can't believe it's broken sinds I replaced it 10k ago)
Could anybody help me in the right direction?

The main fuse sends power to the heating coil of each O2 sensor on terminal C of that harness. The sensors send their signal to the ECU pins 2D and 2J on terminal A. You need a long set of leads for your multimeter. Clip one probe of your meter onto wire C of the O2 sensor harness (not the sensor itself, the plug on the wire harness) and connect the other lead to the wire that goes into 2C and 2J. Each of the O2 sensor plugs' A terminals is a continuous wire to their respective pins on the ECU and they should have continuity. If not there's a break somewhere in the harness.

Why not just pin into the O2 sensor wires and see if there's voltage. Should be between .1 and .9 volts. Usually the volts are below .7

The troubleshooting guide referes back to code 15 in step one...in step 3 of code 15's troubleshooting you have to check continuity of the signal wires. That is how you confirm that the ECU is reading the O2 sensors.
Having the correct voltage won't help if the signal's not getting to the ECU. And that is the next step in the troubleshooting guide.

Isn't there also a ohm resistance on the o2 sensors??
@wytbishop; i'll try to check continuity.

I did this, there is continuity so that's not the problem.
Any other tips?

take it to a professional mechanic. I'm not very good at the troubleshooting part.
