Just did the passenger/ driver's seat cover swap

And I'm not looking forward to doing it again without investing $15 into a pair of hog ring pliers and some hog rings. That was the most painful job I've ever done apart from the timing belt. My hands are raw and covered in blisters from trying to use pliers to bend those damn hog rings in a space that can barely fit a pair of needlenoses. I also washed the fabric, it was so dirty that the water I was washing it became brown after less than an minute. And if anyone wantfs to know, it is safe to machine dry the fabric, just be careful and check on it ever 5-10 minutes to make sure it doesn't get too hot.

But it looks like I'll be driving around with mismatched seats because I couldn't find another good passenger seat. So now my interior is like a rainbow: ugly GS fabric pattern on the door panels and passenger seat, RS driver's seat cover, black rear armrest panels and some sort of possibly custom black and blue rear seat cover that actually looks nice.


But just out of curiosity, which seat do you guys prefer? Sorry for the crap quality, it's my phone cam at night.

$5 will get you hog ring pliers and enough hog rings to do a fleet, local farm supply store!

I power wash the seats with the covers on, and I am also amazed at the brown liquid that flows off! Coffee and coke, I hope!

Hog Rings/pliers are really easy to use. I misplaced my hog ring pliers for a bit when I was finishing up my backseat and it was a HUGE PITA to use my other pliers.

Although you may not need them every again, they're well worth the money.

How much did you pay for seat covers? I know you just put the one one, but if you don't like the colors as much you can dry to get the fabric DYED for cheap (not paint)

I was never a fan of either seat color, and I prefer the fabric feel of the older multicolor style to the teal style.

Leather is my personal choice tho, I got covers for all seats made for ~800-900 w/ shipping including leather to do door panels.

Screw the hog rings I just used zip ties and zip tied the hell out of it! I've had no noticeable problems at all! Plus it took all of 20 min for the swap and I don't have to worry about the rust eating up the fabric!

I think I paid somewhere around $5, but that's because a guy at the junkyard I go to cuts me deals every once in a while. And I'm fine with this colour scheme, it matches my back seats pretty well.

I've used both, and hog rings are easier (with the proper tool), and last longer. Wire ties tend to get brittle with age.
