I'm a novice at cars and I was wanting to know what problems i might run in to if i wanted to install a 1.8L 6cyl. I was also wondering what engine would be my best choice if i can not install a 6cyl. Here is what i was looking at would it be a good choice?

Let's just all bite our tongues here...
Please do yourself a favour and at least try the search feature. This has been covered in very high detail, many times recently.
I'll even give you a head start, search mine or Ryan's posts over the past couple months, I know we've both described it a few times.

Well.. I'm feeling nice right now.. and in a good mood SOOO:
1. Before you can think of swapping in a different motor, look @ the transmission. the Auto tranny is crap, and any major increase in horsepower will eat it up. You will want to get a manual transmission off either:
1. 4cyl MX3
2. early 90's Ford Escort GT or Mazda Protege LX (the ones with the 1.8 BP)
or the best one is off a Kia Sephia. Also early 90's if I'm correct.
After you get the tranny, you can think of swapping. NOTE THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE FOR 4 CYLINDER ENGINES.
The reason I did not post about the 6 cylinder engines is because I don't know much on them, and know that if your looking a performance increase in the 4cylinder cars, swapping to a BP is your best bet. If you get one, though, I do not think you can get one from a Mazda Miata. Those are Rear wheel drive cars, whereas the Escort/Protege BP's are front wheel drive.
And finally, the reason we do not talk about swapping from a 4 cylinder to a V6 is because it's usually not worth it. You would need a whole donor, and have to swap in the entire V6 engine bay for it to work. Plus, the wiring harnesses are different, and bunch of stuff like that you have to deal with. I think it's only worth it when you have a completely useless V6 body, but good everything else, and a trashed 4 cylinder with an excellent body.
hope some of this helps!
