Not special as such...
32mm socket, breaker bar, and an extension bar for the breaker bar (I used scaffolding). Those hub nuts are tight! My car started lifting off the axle stands before cracking off! Get some one to hold the brake pedal down whilst you do that. Support the car very well, jacks, axle stands, wheels under the sills etc.
Buy a new hub nut. Use the manual, use a torque wrench, usual stuff really. You don't need to take the tie rod off.

I did this last night in the dark, no joke.
21mm wheel bolts
17mm ratchet and 17mm wrench for strut bolts
1 1/4 or 32mm socket on manly ratchet and breaker bar, plus friend really stomping on the brake
Take off wheel and jack up car... crack off axle nut, remove strut from spindle, tap axle out of spindle while pulling spindle away, and then pop the other side out of the halfshaft with something long, like a prybar, or a punch with a BFH.

Appreciate the replies. Going to attempt it this afternoon. Should be fun or funny!
