Hatch is stuck :( ......

Hi guys. I've done a search already, and I couldn't get any results off of it, so I hope you all will help me. When I pulled up on my release handle on the floor to open the rear hatch... I didn't hear the "click" that indicates the hatch is unlocked. I know it's not a broken cord off the release handle, because I can hear a sort of twitching sound coming from the rear hatch when I pullup on the release handle.
So, I pulled up on the hatch itself, and it's locked tight :( Guys, any idea what I need to do to get it to unlock? I pulled off that oval plastic looking piece that seems as if it was a covering over the locking/unlocking mechanism on the inside of the rear hatch area of the car... but I don't have a idea of what to do.

Thanks in advance guys:)

If you can, take off that back plastic piece in the hatch area and unbolt the locking mechanism from the body of the car. You'll then be able to lift the hatch and figure out what was wrong there. I had to do this on my GS, but there was no plastic in the back... The latching/locking mechanism just needed a good cleaning/greasing on mine.

Thanks Savin,... and I found the problem :D. I decided to pull up on the release lever in the car, just to see if it would work... and guess what, it did. LOL! Come to find out, a washer, from the spoiler that was holding one of the bolts in, somehow managed to unscrew itself, and out of all places it could land, that's right,.... it landed right on top of the lock mechanism, not allowing the release leve to catch!
I tell you, my Mx is funny like that. Once every few months, the car will make a weird, distant noise, then never make it again... or sometimes, it'll feel like something is off with the driving experince with it, then it'll be right back on track. I guess that's one of the many reasons I'm glad I didn't sell her, because out of all of the cars and trucks I've had, this car, for many reasons, has been the one I've had the most fun with.
