Result of the bucking jerking 1st-2nd GONE VERY BAD

My 96 1.8 v6 k series auto has the EXACT same bucking issue as everyone else who complains about the 1st-2nd gear bucking, sluggish, shaking, especially upon fast acceleration. I let it go on procrastinating about the problem and when to fix it ect for 3 months. Now the car is in the tranny doctor office getting looked at because for the last week, the car also began to shift slowly like it was thinking about shifting then would shift. Reverse feels in neutral then gives her all by herself sporatically, yesterday it wouldn't go into reverse,so I put it in N then in R and it managed. If I was at a red light and slowed down for it,then it turned green and I didn't stop, I accellerate and the car is so sluggish it is embarrassing. Stopping: it would feel like it stalled(but it didn't) then kick back into gear, like jerking. It would sporatically redline to 8 rpm's say if I was turning a corner fast or punched on the gas to merge into traffic, when I let off the gas, problem stopped of course.
The car just had an oil and tranny fluid change on the 6th(I think they put the wrong fluid in my car,and they put in kleenflo tranny conditioner/sealant). Prior to that the car only had the bucking issue and slight reverse issue, the fliud was continuously topped up with dextron 3.
There is a tranny fluid leak that is sudden and quiet vigorous, you can see it drip as you pour the fluid and my strret is littered in my mess.
Today on my way to the tranny doctor,it wouldn't get out of first gear and the rmp's were extremely high and it sounded like the engine was going to blow up , so I eased off the gas and barely applied any pressure to the gas.I couldn't go faster than 10km/h all the way to the shop.
1/4 way to the shop I turned around to go home and put more tranny fluid in, and headed out to the shop again..the problem didn't go away.

Get er looked at before you run into something like this people.

Does anyone know costs for tranny's,gear boxes, fuel pumps ect or anything you might think is my problem.
I am a chick and what advice would you guys give me upon hearing back from the mechanic.
The initial inspection is free. But what if he says it needs a new tranny? Could it be something else and he is trying ot rip me off? What advice should I condsider? :crying:

I'm wondering if this is a transmission issue, or a very bad vacuum leak. Have you checked the accordian-like intake tube under your hood for cracks?

Well I just bought the car in feb and I noticed that that accordian hose and another hose has balck elecrtical tape all over it so I am assuming they had issues with that, and taped it up before it got really bad. I will keep that in mind thankyou very much.

A&b transmissions called and informed me that the tranny is toast. I asked how they came to that conclusion and they said they hooked it up to an electronic guage and the internal pressure is dangerous,it stinks. It won't go out of second gear so I guess I have to believe his word.

You can get auto trannys for decent prices at the wreckers, or you can do a 5 speed swap and be done with it. If you have a garage and some basic tools you should be able to do this yourself and save LOTS of money.

true, u can get an auto tranny for cheap, but if you plan on keeping your mx for a while, i'd go the 5spd swap...so far as i know, you'll need a 5spd tranny, clutch, master cylinder, lines, flywheel, and pedal assembly...there's quite a few posts on here about 5spd conversions though...trust me, it looks more complicated than it really is...but good luck getting a shop to do it though, as most will say it can't be done, or will just refuse to do it...

try car-part.com, or look for junkyards near you. Heck, see if the shop, instead of rebuilding your auto (which is silly) will do a 5 speed conversion for the same price - its honestly REALLY simple for them to do. Again, if you have a junkyard near you, it will make it that much cheaper, or if you can find it on car-part.com

Check ebay also, sometimes this stuff pops up there!

I hope you got some sort of insurance/warrenty on it. I wouldn't get my hopes too high for too long.

Not to be a party pooper, just trying to be realistic.

Best of luck.

If its from a junkyard, it should have a 30 day warranty - most junkyards at least do a guaranteed not to be DOA.

Again...I have the worst luck! The guy from where I got the tranny said a 94 would fit into a 96 so I bought it. The mechanic at the tranny shop put them side by side and said the electrical components where it attaches to the engine are entirely different. A friend mentioned to me "would it be possible to swap the electrical from the 96 and put them on the 94"
What do you guys think? Is that possible?
