				importer has confused me about my ECU.

i searched through this and found this from 06.
now i am just confused. i know kl62 ecu's are for obd2 cars, and i know my 94 mx3 is obd1.
i read that obd2 ecu's are 4 plug and the qoute above states that obd1 is 3 plug.
the importer where i bought my klze from, told me that they have a kl36 or kl31 ecu in stock for me to buy. the guy asked me if i had the yellow plugs and how many plugs i had. i told him YES they are yellow and there are 3 plugs. i told him i would call back in a week if i decided i wanted it.
i called back again today about a week later and im talking to a different guy. he asks me again if i have 3 yellow plugs or what? i told him i do have 3 yellow plugs. he says yes we do have a ecu in stock but the labels have been worn off. he told me they are defianetly KL ecu's and i qoute "it is a KL ecu for certain, kl62 or something?"
now im thinking he isnt familiar with the KL's so much. he described to me a obd1 ecu but gave me the code for a obd2. very weird and i am rather confused at this point. i didnt ask him about the kl62 as i didnt know it was obd2 until after i hung up and clicked "search" and found out about it.
i dont care if its a kl31 ecu or if its a kl36, ide rather have a kl31 but w/e... i know i dont want a kl62 ecu
i guess mainly my question is "are obd2 kl62 ecu's yellow 3 plug or what?"

You need a Japanese ECU from a KLZE equipped car with OBD-II. They are available just check any JDM engine importer. They have 4 sets of plugs instead of 3 like the OBD-II cars. 
yes kl 62 is gonna work ..i have it too in xedos9 with klze engine and manuall tranny -stock...Kl 62 ecu is from xedos9 (millenia) and suports obd II

				i found this right after my original post. 
i am thinking that the importer has either a kl36 or kl31 ecu. and was just confused as to what they are. hmmmmmmmmmmm........................... i wonder? i guess ill find out tomorrow.
for those of you who are wondering why i dont just send my ecu to probinator, the exchange rate is going to make it cost 122 something, and then i have shipping on top of that. and i have to wait. i will pay the extra money so i have it now. i have no patience

				Whoa...
First off you shouldn't even be using a KL31/36 on your car. 
The 94 mx3's run one less coolant temp sensor. The kl31/kl36 is used to reading 2 sensors all the time, so if there is only one sensor to read, that means that you are going to have your fans running constantly. So unless you have a 92-93 harness, or u run fans on a switch I wouldn't go that route.
I am running a K801 right now and its doing the same thing, fans on for the majority of time. I am waiting for my k834 ecu to come back from getting chipped, and that is my advice to you, take out your ecu and look.. Odds are its a k834 ecu, take the lid off and check the chip number, you may be able to get that chipped and that would be your best/cheapest option.
As for the price getting it chipped, no. It should cost about 100$ MAX shipped. I just got my brothers and my ecu chipped by Ryan and it came to 195$ CAD shipped back to us. Chips should be 70$ US.
Oh FYI, KL62 is a stock ECU from a KLZE yes, but the AUTO KLZE with a MAF and it does have 4 pinouts. Useless for a swap.

				Obviously Ryan like me more than Solo as he quoted me $45.   

   Listen if you want to ship it to me I'll get the chip installed but honestly any electronics repair should be able to do it cheap.  You just need a small soldering iron and a solder sucker.

				i just went to the bank and had a money order for a 90 US and they told me it was 120 cdn. 
my ecu is chippable ive already checked that as well. i am just impatient as hell. 
is it true???? my fans will be on constantly with the kl31/36 ecu's????? i dont want that. it looks like i am going to have to send ryan my ecu afterall.

thanks daninski thats really generous of you but i think im just going to have ryan put it in for me so its just a one ship type deal. 
LOL the lady at the bank is going to hate me. hahhaah i cancelled the money order like halfway through ordering it when i found out the exchange rate. now tomorrow im going to go back in and do it all over. HAHAHAH woops sorry lady....

				Like I said any TV Stereo repair shop can do the chip.  It's real easy.  Call around or ask any electronics sales place who does their warranty work.

				Yes the fans will be on.
The 92-93 ecus and the kl31/36 ecu's use one coolant sensor to determine when the fans come on and another sensor to determine when to turn off based on temp. Since the 94 ecu uses one sensor for BOTH the other ecus will be confused and just run the fans all the time.

				Well that's the thing, the 94 harness doesn't have the 2nd sensor in the harness haha. The stock k8 motor doesn't have the 2nd sensor in the block even. My klze has the sensor taped when I got it, but no plug from the harness.

				yeah i know the sensor. i switched my k8 one onto the ze so i wouldnt have that sensor there. 
i guess im just gonna send probinator my ecu rather then having to wire one in or swap a 92 - 93 harness lol  F THAT. 
thanks tho solo i woulda gone ahead and bought it if i didnt get a reply by tomorrow. lol your engine bay makes mine look so dirty, i should really get my valve covers powder coated.

				Hmmm I did have this fan problem and it depends on the Eprom, from what I have seen. So even if you chip it to a KL31, it will look for the fans, unless they somehow modify that. 
I simply had the extra coolant sensor already on the ZE, then all I did was use the plug from the half mangled wiring loom that came with the engine, put the wire to the correct spot on the ecu and problem solved.

				that would also work as well. but it would mean taking my intake off again and the timing belt to get at that coolant neck to switch it back over.

				This is something that took me by surprise when installing my ZE. There was no difference between the coolant necks on my old K8 and new ZE. I just moved the harness for the knock sensor over to the timing side and everything plugged right in. I was expecting the ZE to have a different number of coolant sensors but it was exactly the same as the K8.
