Sorry for the noobness of this question, I have 0 knowledge when it comes to the MX3. I have a friend who just purchased a 93 MX3 V6 with a 3 speed auto. The day after he bought it the transmission went to s--- and now he needs a swap. Can you tell me what transmission it is? Any good Sources in the Edmonton Alberta area for a relitively good used one?

Manual swap is your best bet.
Any tranny from an v6 probe, v6 mx-6, millenia (non Supercharged)
any of those autos will work, but the autos are statistically crap.

Thanks for the info.
This is for my friends first car. He bought it last week after test driving it and a recent inspection. The next day the tranny's pissing all over. I just want to help him out and get him back on the road.

Is he mechanically inclined? Does he own a torque wrench and a place to work?
Search on this website, using hte search function, "Manual swap"
Its not so hard, you need a scrap yard too.

I had a auto tranny blow out on my MX about 2 years ago. I went to car-parts.com followed the instructions on finding the one for my 1993 RS auto... then it'll show you a list of used auto trannys. I have had no problems with my auto, since I got it. However... I'm telling you right now.... GET A TRANNY COOLER! the main reason the trannys fails in the MX is because it was made by Ford, to be used in the Ford Escort. The engine in the Mx is too strong for the Ford transmission, causing it in most cases, to overheat... and then the tranny goes to crap from there.
If you have more questions, just ask:)
