My Stolen Story!

Post by koppit »

So I owned a 94 MX3 last year, and was stupid enough to crash it.. so a couple of weeks ago I picked up a black 93 MX3 - a really good deal on craigslist - and MAN was I ever happy.

I bought the car on Saturday, after a quick test drive (my brother had driven it and looked at everything previously, and gave it a thumbs up, minus a few scratches and dents) I bought it on the spot and drove it home, despite noticing a huge gash in one of the tires.

I park it in the underground and get all my papers in order, find a place to park my other car, and get ready to do the insurance, papers, new tire, and alarm all in one fell swoop.

Wednesday morning rolls around, I walk outside to go to work, and the car is GONE.

...A week later I get a call from the cops telling me they found the car - it made it 17km before getting a flat tire - yep, the one with the gash in it. The guy tried to fill it up again, gave up, and stole someone else's truck in the area. No damage, not even any lock damage (is this even possible with the use of another key?).

Needless to say, I parked it in the underground again, disabled it, and everything I was supposed to do a week and a half ago ended up getting done on Saturday (yep, valentines day, my girlfriend was very understanding).

Boy do I feel better now. :D

Oh, then I bought them altezza tail lights I was looking at last year... sigh.

wow!!!! that sucks so bad, lucky you got it back. also lucky that tire gave out.

and i have broken into my mx3 a bunch of times now, but ive never started it without a key.

you have to wonder sometimes. if you buy a car off someone you dont know if they have a extra key somewhere. and steal it back off you.

Yeah that's what everyone said - but in this case I just don't know.. I bought it from a School board administrator and I doubt he'd need the money.

July sounds good, always nice to see a bunch of mx3's in one place

Man, you got lucky!
People tried to get into mine at least 4 times, in different states. My lock cover is gone, and it's a little hard to turn the key sometimes.
Congrats on getting another MX-3 :)

Lock Cover?

mine was hard to turn too when I first got it, I threw some chain lube in there and wiggled it around a few times and it's been perfect ever since.

lol, I leave my car unlocked most of the time...

In my defense I live in bumblefark, and it's a college town thats really small. So it'd have to be some stupid college kid who would prob talk to someone, and since I have the only mx3 in town, it wouldn't be too difficult to track..., or a local person (50% of which are amish) so they wouldn't be able to drive it.

I plan to get a remote lock kit in the summer, in which case I will start locking it for convenience. Car looks poopy from the outside with the few small dents, peeling paint, dirt and total non gloss to it. The inside though, has full leather a decent system (lacking headliner and a-pillars).

Car doesn't really entice people to come look at it.
