b6 head issues...anyone?

im looking to change out my head on my b6 due to lack of available parts and the crappy intake its got
i know i could pull anything off of a 323 miata protege etc but im worried about the intakes they have on them
i would pull one off a miata but i know that the intake would face the passenger side which would complicate things and i dont want to pull off a 1.5 protege because of the smaller valves ( i know the miata has the same valves, etc)
i was thinking of pulling the head off a kia sephia but i dont know how well the head is built being as it has gone through kia manufacturing :p
does anyone have any suggestions ????

uhhh.....if you have a b6, why are you trying to put a BP head on it?
I'm pretty sure the sephia was never a b6, just a bp....

as for the 1.5, i'll find out about that, but i'm sure it'll probably end up being like the mazda 1.5, too small to be compatible

they do have the 1.5 but i dont know if its the same as the 1.6 w/ diff stroke or something

If memory serves me right, the forging on intake manifolds and such from any of the kia "mazda" based engines is not nearly as good as it is coming from an actual mazda. I don't know if you can swap them, but I really am concerned with is I don't think there would be much of a benefit for swapping them. Look at the intake manifolds of the BP and B8, the resemble that of the B6 SOHC. The wierd spiral lunk of an intake that the B6-DE has is probley because it was one of the first mazda engines with the VICS system. The B6T doesn't have VICS, and had a completely different manifold. I think it also resembled the BP and the B6 SOHC.

WTF???... why couldn't you use the Miata head? Take your old intake off and bolt it to the Miata head... problem solved. A B6 is a B6 is a B6.

Thats a lie.

A B6 has two SOHC varients, two DOHC varients. None of them will interchange without modification.

Sorry let me rephrase...

A B6DE is a B6DE is a B6DE.

Doesn't matter where you get your DOHC B6 from... I'm unaware of your two variants.

I believe the miata head is different... I don't remember how, but something tells me it is. compression is different, but thats only a valvetrain thing, right? also... coil packs? I don't remember... ugh.

According to Wiki, the regular DOHC is the same as the B6T from the GTX and such; just no turbo.

I'm just talking head... everything is the same.

Yes Miata's use coilpacks and different intake manny's... but we not talking about that.

When I had my B6DE I always found parts for it... so I'm not sure what he's going on about.

the head on the miata b6de has smaller valves which tend to clatter after 100k which means a new valve job
it also has a diff bolt pattern for the intake manifold which is my issue
a b6t intake would solve my issue but i cant seem to find one... that's why im considering other heads
