Towing / Trailer hitch

Has anyone ever installed a trailer hitch on the MX3? Since I no longer have a truck, I would like to add a hitch to tow a small trailer every so often for transporting lumber, appliances, tools, etc. and possibly my motorcycle if necessary. I was thinking of purchasing a small utility trailer no larger than a 4 x 8 to use for such tasks.
What trailer hitches are available or recommended for this car? Also, any other input advice is appreciated.
Thanks

i want it BAD!
maybe you can buy it from UHaul or something... like aftermarket... but out of curiousity what would you tow with your mx-3??

I dont know if they're the same as the Jspec, or if it's OEM, but it looks like they did make an Mx-3-specific hitch a long time ago (this pic is about 4 years old)

I bought a hitch on Ebay used. I like it ALOT. My MagnaFlow exhaust had to be let go from it's rubber hangers while I had it on. With the stiff suspension, upgraded brakes, and strong engine, I could haul stuff, but I've only used it once to put on my bike rack, and haul my tandems. It's easy to put it on, and take it off. The ad said "Mazda tow hitch MX6 MX3".
I would feel comfortable hauling the stuff you mentioned.

I've wanted one for a while now. I've been autocrossing a fair amount of times and I've seen Miata's and Rx7's tow trailers for their racing tires and gear. What I fell in love with is that you can get a tire carries that goes into the hitch. They use it to carry their race tires to the track. I may still get one made, but I'd like to hide the receiver behind the rear plate

Also, for Auto-X ,you can leave it on for better weight distribution, and to have more weight on the rear wheels without any penalties, or putting your car in a different class.
Mine pushed against the very bottom of the bumper very slightly, but only noticeable if you're on the ground.

Do you remember the name brand of the hitch?
Currently on Ebay there are Curt hitches for the MX3. To my understanding, they are direct fits and take less than 30 minutes to install. I could also buy one from Curt directly, but the cost is a bit more.

Mine was used, and doesn't have a name on it. It has only 2 bolts that hold onto the upper part of the tow tabs, and took about 15 minutes to install. There are holes for bolting it to the bottom of my hatch area, but it wasn't necessary for what I'm doing, and I didn't want to drill the holes. I had to cut a small retainer tab off of one of the tow tabs for it to fit flush.

Okay, I'll draw it up, but may need reminding. I'm going to send you templates for the phenos, when I get mine back from Moonman, also.
