OEM is a Mazda clutch
Exedy is an aftermarket company

OEM clutch + ZE = bad

You can't have OEM aftermarket components, but you can have an aftermarket OEM replacement....technically a stage 1 ;)

Ya, Fieromx3 has one and it has widthstood his abuse no problem. Kp2t just put that combo in as well from Fieromx3's experience.

Ha my bad, looking at to many eBay ads.

Yea, i wanna run this clutch if I get a new ZE. I am not into buying 3-400$ clutches Anymore. Plus all I can find here in BC is centerforce. They are ok, but I want something else.

Anyone else using Exedy?

I have been using an OEM replacement exedy clutch ($110 shipped on ebay) on my klze with kl01 cams... it has withstood all the abuse I have thrown at it for the last 100,000 miles...

it's mated to a fidanza flywheel... I actually prefer this clutch over my CM stage 2R clutch that burned up after 20k miles!

I have an OEM MX-6 clutch and if I shift under load without backing off on the accellerator it'll slip long enough to be embarrasing. I'll need to replace it next spring and don't want to spend $400 either so if anyone has a better way to go I'm all ears.

I ran a CF DF clutch and it was OK at best. I also ran a stage 1 which seemed to be better. I want a spec clutch. But again, I am not stoked on paying over 350 for a clutch or having it shipped to me and having to pay broker fees and wait for 3 weeks.

Will an 2.2 MX-6 turbo clutch fit our MX-3s?

no! only the 2.2L na will MATCH TO A K8 OR KL the clutch disc, spline count, and shaft size are all the same for the 2.2L na AND THE K8 KL. disc size for both is a 8 7/8 spline of 22 and shaft of 15/16. the 2.2L turbo is 9 1/2 clutch diameter 23 spline count with a larger shaft of 1 1/16

Hey thanks. The turbo clutch had more holding clamp so I would of ordered it. Hold on, is someone suggesting that only Turbo'd engines make good horse power. :?

i have been running the exedy clutch and fidenza flywheel on my ze for over a year now. no problems what so ever. i personaly believe that the reason so many people are blowing up there trannys is because they are running clutches that are to aggressive for our trannys. if it doesnt give at the clutch its got to give somwhere.

isn't exedy the manufacturer of the oem clutch?

Why would you want to go with a clutch that's not made for our drivetrains? If you require more holding power, than go up a stage where it'll hold the power that you want.

My spec is so far so good! ZE isn't road legal yet so it's not seen much action... For a stage 3 it has been super easy to drive! I've been reversing it into my miniature gargage with literally 2cm clearance no problems :) Needless to say it hasn't slipped

Perhaps I'll give it a review when I get it on the big roads and doing a few 1/4s.
