So I messed up my jack shaft on my 94 4 cylinder mx-3. I'm having a hard time finding another one. What I noticed was that the 92 and 93 mx-3's (talking about stick shifts here) don't have jack shafts, instead they have one large drive shaft. One would think that that large drive shaft would fit on a 94 as well. So my question is, should I do this? What are the benefits or disadvantages of having one long drive shaft instead of a smaller one connected to a jack shaft.
As always I appreciate the advice.

If there is a different between the years (which I didn't think there was) I wouldn't recommend it. It's most likely there so it can get around the engine, and not interfere with anything. I don't think you can replace the thing w/ a longer CV joint.
How did you mess it up? Bearing? That can be replaced. If you ruined the teeth, then ya you'd need another one.

i would say get another jackshaft for your 94.
If you were in chattanooga you could pull one, if you had the tools to do so. I don't have the tools to do so
