ZE Died. Help

My ZE started making a really loud knocking this morning when I turned on the car. Drove to work and on the way it started making an even louder banging in the engine bay and started to hiccup while driving on the highway. Soon after, it completely died on the road. I pulled over on the side of the road and then all my coolant began shooting out the overflow valve.

It's at a garage now to be looked at but I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause. Does anyone know of a reputable place to get another ZE in Montreal?

its not so much the reputation of the place but its on your behalf to know what engine you are getting. if you look at the engine thouroughly and no what your getting you will be fine. importers dont pick the engine they want to have they just get whatever they get in the shipment to sell its up to the buyer to know what they are getting. if u get a bad engine and the place refuses to do anything bout it it is techinically your fault as ur supposed to kbnow what you are buying. so go to any place and look at it, know what you are getting and make the right choice

Cool. I picked one up and it's at a garage to get installed now.

Should there be any issues with them doing the swap? They're not familiar with ZE's. I know they need to transfer my curve neck IM to the new engine but is there anything else?

Thanks in advance

For the 96 make sure they transfer all the vac lines and realated components. If you can take lots of pics before they do it. At least that way if they screw up you can look at the pics and redo the vacs the right way. If you have any probs PM me or contact Nitefire. He lives in Montreal and just did the swap. Cheers.

May I ask....................

How much did it cost you to buy the ZE and to put it in?

Just curious

750 for engine. 500 for swap.

Thanks for your help guys.

There must be vac line diagrams for people doing swaps? It's a ZE swap to ZE. Can't be that hard for them can it? I don't want them scratching their heads with the vac line thing though.

Yes there's good posts here on vac lines. Tell them to put both engines side by each and make the new one look like the old one. Too easy eh.
