Are those the Kicker CVX?
And i recommend a ported box even tho alot of people say kicker are best in non-ported.

Don't worry I once said the same thing

2 Main types of Boxes (That i know of)

Ported and Non-Ported (There are always different types of ports)

Ported

Non-Ported

Basically a "Port" is a hole in the box designed to enhance the sound of the bass and many other things like frequencies and other stuff, Just ask around and you'll find out tons of different opinions.

ported boxes tend to give off better low frequencies where a sealed box would give you more punch..since they're 10's and you have 2, i'd say use a sealed box..would give off so much punch it would hurt :D :D ...whether or not to go with sealed or ported also depends on the application..with my old car i had 2 12's with a ported box, it was only ported because i had a trunk, rather than a hatchback..i had made the box myself and tried first without the ports, and then with...with a ported box in a trunk style car, the airwaves are able to travel out of the box and basicaly turn your trunk into a bigger sized speeker box. hope this helps you out a bit.
oh and i recommend checking out the manufacturer specs on the subs, they usually specify whether the speeker should be in a sealed/ported box..and if the box isnt the correct dimension as to what the speeker was designed for, it could sound like crap or worse you could blow your new investment
