Viper 700 Alarm - Code Pulling?

This isn't really Mazda related, but...

I have a Viper 700 alarm system in my car. It came with it when I bought it, but with no remotes. Go figure. I didn't even know I had it till I pulled my dash and found it, and the vibration sensor under my console. well, I knew, but not for sure. The actual alarm speaker deal was under the hood, but the wires were cut. I seriously think my entire car has been jacked a few times. Amp that it came with had no serial no. either... at least my VIN is still intact.

I called up Viper, got to model of keychain I need, bought it off of e-bay (cheaper than from them), and it tells me to look for a while sticker for the code. No can find. Call them again, they say I need to bring it to a 'dealer' to get them to pull the code. Used their dealer locator, nearest one is in Montreal. Thats like a 50 hour drive if not more.

Anyone know how to pull the code otherwise?

Okay, so I talked to my mechanic buddy and he said a place called Advance Electronics could do it. If its like $10, I will. Apparently any car audio/stero place can pull codes from alarms... Kinda duh, I suppose...

Not sure if I can delete a thread. Sorry Mods....

code pulling? hmm, car audio shops that deal with viper have a scanner to program the units. But I've never heard of pulling a code on one.........

is it a Viper 700 ESP alarm, or is it a 700 HF?

if you just want to see if the alarm works, have you tried just programming the new remote?
1. Open Door
2. Turn key to on position
3. Push Program button (will be attached to the brain) once, let go then hold the button down.
4. Push lock on the new remote (alarm should beep if the siren is hooked up, or at least make a clicking noise)
5. Remove key wait a sec, then try the remote.

If you don't hear anything from the alarm, you might have to check and see that power, ground and ignition is getting to the alarm brain. Let us know how you make out

Its an ESP and I was told by Viper that I needed to cut the traces to match the code on the sticker on the brain... but I'll try that.
