k so i read the forums on halfshafts but i didnt get the info i needed. least i didnt see it. im in the middle of swappin a 95-98 bp using the tranny from my b6 engine, sorry not sure what tranny this is. anyways i noticed the mounting bracket for the half shaft is in a diff location. i called mazda to see what halfshaft would work but they couldnt help. could someone please help me out? i read on here a passenger axle from a 92-93 mx-3 sohc will work..but wouldnt that mean it'd bend easier if i was to go boost?.. is there any other half shafts from any other cars that would work with my setup? or is the passenger axle the only other option besides moding the original?

I would say use the axels for your car and your transmission the 22mm axels. I just swapped a 90 protege lx bp-ze g-series tranny into my mx-3 b6 sohc (kind of the opposite of what your doing.) and my protege driver side axel is a bit to short, so I'm trying to figure this out to finish the swap. Also you need to use your b6 sohc flywheel and clutch assembly as I already went through this. Anyway the sohc b6 f-series tranny has 22mm axels and the BP uses 24mm axels so the axels from the vehicle you got your engine will not fit.

sorry i wasnt to clear on this..the b6 engine i have is the dohc. i was readin and it said i could use the sohc passenger axle to work rather then usin a halfshaft. im still usin the f series tranny by what u have said, thats the tranny that came with the b6 engine. the mountin points are diff on the bp..so thats what the whole problem is. tryin to figure out what halfshaft i can use or if i have to go with the longer single axle

so ur using a BP with the f-series trans from ur 1.6 dohc.. if thats the case. then yes the passenger side axles from a 92-93 1.6 sohc will fit rite into the trans from ur dohc.. there the same tranny..
I know i used both trans from the sohc and dohc on my BP..
the half shaft from ur dohc is to short and the half shaft from the g-series trans won't fit into the f-series trans..
when i boosted my BP on the f-series trans i keep chucking tranny's rather than axles.. I ran a 12.8 on the f-series trans i broke three of them blow 3rd gear and grenaded 2 diff..
i hope that answers ur ?
the single long axle and trans will hold up given u don't abuse it on a constant basis like peeling out or popping ur clutch.. u take care or it it will hold up..

Well if I can get my axel situation worked out and get my g-series tranny going in my mx-3 then if you need the sohc passenger axel(mine doesn't have the 3-bolt carrier bearing thing that the protege axel does halfshaft or whatever you call it) I will sell it to you for like $20 + shipping it's in working order. No rips or tears.

No problem, I hope to figure this axel problem out tomorrow but afraid shops won't be open if I need welding done. Good luck man and if you need anything from a 1990 protege just LMK and it's cool to have connects on parts, I have something close but only free 1 out of 10-12 times

and on small stuff.

so them ny u are trying to bolt up the g-series trans onto the 1.6 sohc.. it that rite..
Look at the top halfshaft thats the unmodified shaft Bottom left hole notice the inch or so space.. Look at the bottom shaft the space is almost gone.. I cut it reposition it got it tacked and welded all around.. so that the halfshaft wold bolt up the the sohc..

That is all well in good, I'm not so much worried about the carrier bearing bolting to the block as I'am of the axels being the wrong lengths and not bolting up. Also you used Kia axels correct?

My white mazda used kia trans and axles..
my blue mazda with the sohc uses the mazda trans and axles and modified halfshaft. .
I never had issues having axles being the wrong length..
