Custom Shifter Knob

So I have access to a router and lathe, and was thinking I could design and machine my own shifter knob. I want something pretty crazy, because this will cost me no money besides materials. I'm pretty good with the software, and I'm in the brainstorming stage. Anyone have any cool ideas? I'd do a wood prototype, to see how it turns out. Maybe even machine some for people who want them? I'd love to hear your ideas.

How about one in the shape of the Mazda/Autozam/Eunos logo?

How would I make that three dimensional? I could certainly emboss it on an regular style knob.

I vote for your first choice.

A fist would be interesting, I was also thinking a shovel handle (I do pedal bike dirt jumping too )
Oh, another idea. just a regular style, but with an LED under each gear, and it lights up when you enter that gear... not sure what i'd make the lense out of though, or what kind of transparent it should be. (electronics aspect isn't hard though)
Aluminum handbrake handles would be easy, too.
Edit: I thought you guys would be pretty creative on things like this... Is it because I'm new?
And there is just boring cylindrical ones, or spheres....
