New Owner 1992 1.6L

Hi guys and gals, I just purchased a 1992 MX-3 with the 1.6L engine I beleive it is a sohc.
I have a few questions
First my manual transmission has some problems sometimes not going into 1st and sometimes 2nd but then sometimes it works perfectly, some grinding noises are heard sometimes. The clutch is suppose to be new, seller had a bill to show for it $350.
Anyway how hard is it to remove the tranny from these carsl protege 5 sp, any special tips tricks if I need to? Also I have been searching for the info I need but cannot find nearly all of it. Will a 1990 1.8 protoge 5 spd. bolt up and work properly or what about a '88 626 5 spd. not sure of engine displacement but it;s a 4 cyl fwd I beleive 12 valve engine 2.2 maybe or 1.6 maybe? Will any of these 5 spd's work and what would be negatives and positives.
Secondly I have beeping seatbelt thing which I'm going to try and get mazda to perform all of the recalls.
Thirdly I do not know if the timing belt has been changed the car currently has 128,xxx miles and I'm wondering if this car has an inspection plate or something to see the t-belt. Also how difficult is the t-belt job on these cars how many hours, do you have to lift the engine out or tilt... or can remove inner fender and have clearance, also any special tools to perform this. Also is the 1.6l for a '92 an interference engine? meaning will I hurt the internals if the t-belt shreads teeth or breaks?
And Lastly is forced induction(thinking turbo mainly) out of the question for 1.6L SOHC 4 cyl engine? I would only be running low boost on this little car 5-6 PSI tops. Would this condition decrease liability a lot? How do these 1.6L's take to boost, is the compression low enough for boost?
Sorry for all the questions but I need to get this car in good shape quickly, and I'am very capable of making these repairs myself, just unfamiliar with the drivetrain and specifics of these cars and most mazda's but I love these mx-3's I learned how to drive a 5 spd. in one when I was 16
Thanks to anyone who can help me with these questions and concerns and thanks for this great community.
Sorry for all the questions
