I've been surfing the net looking for info on the MX-3 and came across this great site! What's up everyone!?

Names Mr B. and I am currently looking at a 1996 MX-3 GS Precidia. I'm hoping to become it proud new papa and would appreciate anyones input on anything regarding it.

The current owner tells me that it has not been modified in any way and its in perfect working condition.

I have a picture of the engine bay

and I have seen this:

Would I be correct to think that the car I am looking at has the IMF in the second picture as opposed to the top right one in the first picture?

And if this is so... is it right? Did that model come with that IMF?

I am a car enthusiast and noob, not expert so I would appreciate any help not ridicule! Thanks guys!

welcome to the site, these are fun cars to drive around. also fun to mod if you have the time and money (ive probably hit the 20,000 mark with car), whatever you need help with this site has some pretty smart people, do a search first so you dont have people jumping on you for asking a question that has been asked a hunfred times before.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I was trying to avoid that but I wasn' t really sure where to find an answer other then asking someone to look at the picture and tell me what they think.

The stock engine in the GS is the K8, which is the manifold in the top right of that first picture. If nothing has been modified in the car you are looking at, then it has that manifold. It just looks a little different in that picture because it has been removed from the car.

looks to be in decent condition (then again its just a pic) needs a good rub down with some degreaser for all that dust. k8s (the v6gs) are fun little car, they don't get that bad of gas mileage and they have a lil go in them I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you do not buy an automatic they are nothing but trouble, and you'll have to end up swapping a manual in or keep replacing them.

I agree, DO NOT get a automatic. Unless you plan to swap it out for a Manual tranny. Automatic trannies on these cars will die quickly on you.

I have only heard of 1 auto that ran well at 200hp. It was on a Probe with a modified valve body and tranny cooler
