24 Hours of Lemons - Help Needed

Thanks for allowing us newbiew to join your board. We are a bunch of Designers at Ford who are entered in the upcoming 24 Hours of LeMons at Flat Rock Michigan on Sept 29-30
http://www.24hoursoflemons.com
We have recently purchased a 1992 MX-3 GS to race and are in the process of building it. You can track our progress at
http://www.formula-un.net
My reason for posting here is that we are looking for spare parts to purchase. Ideally we could find a damaged parts car V6 MT but in lieu of that we are interested in motor, trans and suspension parts. Proximity to Michigan is a large plus because we'd rather work on the car to make it faster than drive across the county to pickup spare parts.
In addition, we have parts left over that we will be selling to add to our budget ( we are limited to spending $500 including the car) that we will post soon.
Thanks for evenyone's help in advance. Email the team at

If you could find a KL motor from a MX-6 V6 or probe GT, its a direct swap, just ise the VAF and ECU. thats also 32 more HP than stock.

We are still looking for a parts car urgently. We have located one in Ohio which is very interesting however with only 2 weeks left we don't have time to finish the car and go pick this one up. We had a couple in Ann Arbor that we're having trouble to track down. So, if you're in the Detroit area and interested in picking up a car in Ohio we're open to buying that car and trading you some parts if you go to pick it up. Or if you have a V6 MT parts car in the Detroit area contact us.

Hopefully the Mods will cut you guys some slack but they can be rabid round these parts... take a look at the other threads and modify your title:
[WTB] Parts for 24 Hours of LeMons Car
or something like that.
Since Rims and tires don't count toward your $500 limit, Check out the wheel / tire forum and find a set of the lightest rims you can - our stock rims are pretty mand heavy and these cars respond very nicely to reduced unsprung weight... assuming you are running 15s you could easily trim 7 pounds off each corner... go with 15x7 rims - the handleing difference is signficant.
If you have leftover budget - Escort zx2 struts are considered an upgrade on our cars... map cheap at junkyard...
Also - drop by the corner of newburg and warren... theres a yard there that ussually has some mx3s in it.

I talked to a guy in pontiac a few months ago about buying his gs parts car. I believe he sold it to a salvage yard in the end - if you can get a hold of him maybe you can find out which salvage yard. I am not entirely sure - but i think his id is 1992blazeredgs ..... GL

near there yeah... thinks the place is called Michigan Import or somthing along those lines but don't bother looking for them in yahoo yellow pages - they aren't listed... have not tried other sites though... this is strictly a you take it apart yard... last time I was there was about 2 months ago and they had 2 MX3s in their yard... but I got most of the good stuff off 'em already!

I have been in Cali all week on business, just got home tonight. Racing karts for 2 days, 3 hours sleep last night and all day on a plane. I asked my teammates to get in touch with you while I was gone but you know we all have jobs too.
We have not given up and are on schedule to be finished on time. I have to Coach and Ref soccer all day tomorrow and will call you in the evening.

Shameem-
My bad - the yard is on the West side of Newburg south of Cherry Hill, not Warren. Sorry.

Update...
I talked to Frank last night... We need to support this effort!!!
See new thread here:
http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph ... 648#430648
I'm stepping p by lending them the GS rims off my 93 SE... and I've donated one of the shifter drop repair brackets as a preventative measure (since they're running straight pipes, if their shifter drops mid race it'll end up on the pavement! LOL)
Franks team is in need of some folks to possibly wrench but definately to provide tech support, like "here's the quick fix for that" stuff... Mostly it'll be an opportunity to feel cool by support a race team! Sounds like fun to me!
Come on out to Flatrock on 9/29... the more MX3s in the parking lot, the better the chances that their car will finish the race! <wink>
Get the word out, pm your friends, spam you neighbors, sned smoke signals!

Grab some strut assemblies off a 323, i think there a direct swap.
