Cruise control installation

Post by Steve_SK »

Hello, my MX-3 friends,

I have MX-3 V6 1993 with manual transmission and I would like to install OEM cruise control in my car. I'd like to ask if it is possible and if it would work with my engine/transmission. Do you have Cruise light on your dashboard, or is it just a button which lights up when it is turned on? How is it with wiring and CC computer?

Thank you very much for help.

Find a MX-3 with cruise in the junk yard and take everything you can find that is connected to the cruise and the cruise controlls. The dealer will install a cruise control unit for about 1000 dollars here in the US so I would think the wiring is already in all MX-3s. However, I would get all the stuff including the wiring just in case. If the car needs to be wired for cruise it is going to be a long and difficult process unless you are a pretty good electrician. Take pictures or notes as you remove the cruise from the junk yard car so that you know how to put it in yours. You can also look at the online manual on the front page of MX-3.com on the left side for more info and pics of the cruise set-up.
