Ive just located a bp engine for 650, its non turbo, very clean, twin cam, and is a japanese import. First question good deal or no? Second question will i notice a large increase in acceleration/overal performance? Third question how much would it cost to turbo it after i have the bp insallled? And is anyone out there that would want to swap my engine for the bp in vancouver area. I would pay a ton of money, and free food and possibly beer
thanks
cheers

To answer your questions...
First question good deal or no?
That's a good deal as long as the motor was well-maintained. Low milage would be a plus as well. If the inside of the valve cover looks light golden brown, it's probably OK. Otherwise, if it's dark brown or black under there, you could probably find a better deal locally. Is 650 including shipping? May want to find that out as well...
Second question will i notice a large increase in acceleration/overal performance?
Most definitely. How much depends on which motor you had before. Just to give you an idea, the stock B6 SOHC motor is around 88hp. The BP is around 135hp. I think the stock DOHC motor is more than 88, but it's nowhere near 135. Don't know for sure, as I've never worked on one.
Third question how much would it cost to turbo it after i have the bp insallled?
The BP is built for a turbo. The block even has a place for turbo's oil lines to plug into (on non-turbo motors, the lines are plugged). As for the cost of a turbo system, do a quick search. There are so many options, you'd have to have a look for yourself.

Make sure you get the engine wiring harness and ecu as well. As for its not a 92/93 so We will have to swap the harness.I might have a ECU.

the dohc comes rated at 105hp, flywheel HP

A N/A BP can make power boosted. im living prove. the BPT is overated in my opinion. but to be boosted ur better off that route that the path i choose. $5,000 on just parts isn't cheap i was luckly enough not to pay for labor since i could that wiring etc etc...

put converting to a BP is not bad. My best time was a 15.6@87 factory.

15.3@90 with my TEC II i never went back since 2 weeks after that tyme i was boosted.

but good luck on ur project u will be please with a BP i was.
