ok, so i drove my car for really the first time yesterday and whe i got back home i noticed a wierd smell, as if it smeled kinda like rubber. I did a little investigation and it was the back break and rotors were extremely hot. Is it normal for new rotors and pads to get really hot and smell when they are new?

I remeber a few years back when i was on the school bus going home, the school bus had its breaks done and it smlet the exact same. So what i was thinking is that new rotors and pads need time to wear in.

i lifted up the back and took off the parking break and the back whell spun fine, there was always some resistance since i replaced the pads and rotors. But when i was replacing them, i made sure that i pushed the brake piston all the way back in before i put the new pads in.

So i guess what im really asking is that do new break pads and rotors get hot and smell when they really get used for the first time?

Didn't you read the box? Yes you need to break them in and yes they should smell.
