Dumb Oil Change Question

I am doing a oil change but I cant figure out what size wrench I need for the Oil drain plug and what way it should turn. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ASAP.

I'm not sure if you should be changing your own oil if you had to ask this... :roll:

I'm pretty sure it's a 19 metric and to loosen go counter clockwise - righty tighty lefty loosy (that's how I remember) LOL

It's either 17mm or 19mm metric (try sockets until you get a snug fit). And yah, counterclockwise to loosen but here's the rub, it's counterclockwise when you are looking at the drainplug/bolthead. If reaching the drainplug from the front of the car, so that the drainplug/bolthead is facing away from you, counterclockwise will appear at first to actually be clockwise. Make sense? It will if ya think about it...

Another thing is, do not overtighten it. If it is leaking get a new plug bolt and seal from Mazda. They are cheap. If the bolt edges are turned get a new one. If you mess it up badly it will be a real pain to get it off to replace it.
