how do some people get their turn signals so clear?

Image

i got the clear lenses from Corksport which I 'ovened' onto my turn signal housings, but the amber paint of the housing inside is very visible. and i'm sure the e-spec housings that corksport sells aren't as clean as what's seen above ... all i can think of is that this person spray painted the inside of his signal housings silver ...

Kids these days. (1st) Your bulbs are amber and will show through the clear lenses as being amber, even when they are off. You can buy bulbs which have a blueish/silvery coating which shine amber, but don't look amber when they are off. (2nd) There are multiple types of turn signal housings. One is gray as opposed to yours, which I assume is orange.

And don't tell me I'm wrong when you don't know what your talking about.

Got mine from ebay seller Procarparts a couple years ago and they look just like the pic you posted. The inside of the housings is chromed/silver like a headlight.

I use Sylvania Silverstar sig bulbs which give amber light but appear sliver colored when off. Your pic looks like that kind of setup. You're correct in that some ppl installing just the clear lenses onto stock signal housings spray painted the inside w/silver-chrome paint. Luc St. Pierre's old GSR site included that work-step in a how-to from a few years ago. btw, seems Procarparts doesn't sell these full light housings any longer.

uhhh ... i never even had amber bulbs, nor have i ever seen amber bulbs installed behind AMBER lenses ... stop trying to argue here ... the other guy has completely answered me: there were aftermarket SILVER housings sold before. corksport never sold them .... voila, case closed. thanks everyone

Why cant you just paint your housings silver like I did almost 8 years ago?

Remove the lens, remove the reflector, paint the housings, install the reflector, install the new clear lens.

Not that difficult.

yup. that's the plan.
but that 14 year old glue in the crack can get ugly ... i'm gonna use the high silver gloss caliper paint i have though ...
