noob from stl

hey everyone, im from st.louis mo. i dont own a mx3 yet. ive been considering taking the one in my neighbors garage that has sat for 2+ years. anyway im just here to poke around at the general topics and see what i can learn to see if it would be worth getting and tinkering with. there are a few issues with it and i know nothing of this car.
long story short, its a 92, v6, 5speed, body is straight, except for some light hail, no major actually dents or anything. the interior is in fairly good shape minus a ... 2" (ish) tear on the top of the rear left seat. other than that its a pretty solid car.
i do know the owners daughter at one time had a small oil burning issue. i havent seen the car run for about 3 years.
in short. is this car worth making a good daily with a little extra power for cheap. or at least getting it 100% reliable for cheap? i.e.a fresher motor swap or something of the sort?
