i came back home, parked my mx3 and turned it off ... i started working around my car and then i hear the gas tank making gurgling noises for the first time ... is this normal? what is happening exactly? the fuel is falling back into the tank from the engine or what? just curious ...

it is normal for it to happen. it happens in both of my GSs.. more noticeable when I park on a slight incline.

Normal. Part of the safety inspection process is to ensure your gas cap can maintain a certain pressure level. It's the pressure inside the tank that's just equalizing itself with the ambiant/outside pressure.
