Has anyone ever heard of a micro switch in the drivers side door lock that is used as an immobilizer?

If you have power locks - i think there would be a switch attached to the driver side lock mechanism (which makes the passenger side lock to open/close with the driver side)

If you have a security system connected to that switch somehow and if the switch is faulty then it is somewhat possible.
