KLZE vs. K8 Cooling system

Hey everyone!
Okay, on the KLZE (2.5 V6) that I have, there is this metal tube (about 1/4 of an inch in diameter, it runs parallel to the big tube/pipe for the thermostat itself)that goes from the thermostat housing to the front of the engine. There is not one like that on the K8 (1.8 V6). Why is it there and how can I fix this problem, it looks like there should be a hose to go on it but I can't find one on my car. (Probably because the K8 did not have this metal tube
). What I was thinking is maybe I could just put a plug on it but not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
