I don't understand why the plastic panels in back are black but the pillar panels are tan in front? and headliner tan?
Anyways I want it all black to match my blu/black velour seats & panels. any suggestions how I should go about doing this.

just remove the pillars and paint them using the same method used to paint other interior pieces (scuff or lightly sand ,clean thoroughly,and paint with Krylon Fusion) as for the Headliner I purchased 2 yards of Black felt material & 2 cans of 3M headliner adhesive , removed the old headliner carefully, sprayed 3m adhesive on it then layed down new black material across it , then using my hand starting at one end slowly smooth out and follow the contours , trim around edges and reinstall.

Don't be teaching him Ghetto Paint 101. There's proper vinyl dye at any Walmart in black by the automotive paint.

You need to clean the pillar with a wax and grease remover first. Use a scrub brush to get the cleaner into all the crevices in the faux vinyl pattern.


Then, you spray it down with Adhesion Promoter (also available at Walmart in the auto paint aisle). Let sit 10 minutes, then hit with a light coat of the the Vinyl Dye. Wait 10 minutes and follow up with another light coat.

For the headliner, you COULD try soaking it with vinyl dye, but wouldn't recommend it. Probably best to do as said and get new black material and use upholstery adhesive to stick it up.

Krylon fusion is made for plastic surfaces though. As long as they are prepped, it works perfectly. I used it inmy GS when painting my A and B pillars.

Do NOT use the fabric spray dye in the cans for the headliner, it will flake off.

As ar as the headliner, do NOT use any heavy material such as vinyl unless is VERY lightweight. When the vinyl heats up, it will start to fall, no matter how much adhesive you use. Local guy did this, so Im speaking on his behaf. Looked awesome, until it got really hot outside:)

Sure it will work. But paint is glossy and won't match the existing finishes in the car by a longshot. Vinyl dye was meant for interior trim.

the pillar and headliner are to provide you with a "feeling" bigger space so u dont feel so cramped and contained

plus its probably for heat issues too

Sure it will work. But paint is glossy and won't match the existing finishes in the car by a longshot. Vinyl dye was meant for interior trim.

What's glossy? It's all in the paint selection.
