I was wondering what kind of metal i should use thickness etc. and is there hooks pre made to fit harnesses to attach.

Go for chrome-moly (4130) tubing. You can use .083-wall chrome-moly, which would be lighter and stronger than something like DOM.120-wall. It's also easy to weld...

I don't know about those pre-made hooks. I used to work at a 4x4 store, and it may be worth looking there. There's a lot of role cage accessories in 4x4 stores.
