having trouble finding these!
there's only one dealer on eBay and his picture shows one amber one and one red one, so it confuses me as to whether which one they're really selling as an item!!! they haven't responded in a week so i guess they've confused themselves too ... ?

Are you talking about the ring around the backup light? They are always red. If you are talking about the area on the side that is orange you place a aroange bulb in to make it that color. I think they may have made a light with some orange in it but those are long gone now. There was another thread about this awail ago.

Isn't the only difference some light shining into the reflector?

I was thinking the same thing when i saw that picture on ebay. I do really like how it looks with that yellow ring though...I'm not sure why but I just think it makes it look a whole lot better. I wonder how hard it would be to put a halo ring where that reflector is?

um, i don't understand what any of you are mumbling
so is that amber halo just when the taillight is turned on?
and it becomes that obvious red halo when standing by/off ?
what's all this mumbling. SPEAK !

It is the light reflecting off of the damn reflector which surrounds the reverse light! That part of the taillight assembly emits NO LIGHT on its own. It REFLECTS LIGHT. Just like a REFLECTOR should.
How is that mumbling?

Is it really okay to remove the plastic cover of the altezza taillights and leave it like that? will they survive car washes, etc. without it?? it looks alot better dont u think?

I know back when I had my altezzas the left one let alot of moisture in...and over the course of a few months the paint on the inside just sort've washed away where there was a little puddle of water. I would imagine if you sprayed some sort of clear coat or sealer over it it would be fine though. I do agree, it does look good.
