Hey all!
Does anyone know of a six speed box that would fit
EASILY on the V6 1.8?
Alternatively: has anyone done this and what've they used?
Cheers

I believe you'll find potential 6sp theorems in a search in this Forum by Gro Harlem. As Perry said, no known product out there.

Hey Kiwi!
Thanks for that! Would be good to know what they say if you can find the article! If not, I'll get in touch with them and get a quote.
Anyone else interested if I DO get in touch?

There would be options available if you had a B or F block. If you look at the available 6 speeds on the market 90% have worse gearing than the G series 5 Speed for the torque output of the KF or KL. In a 6 speed they seem to lower 1st gear usually split the difference between the lower gears but don't change the final drive or overdrive. Mazda own FWD 6 speed 6th gear is the same as 5th in the G25 MTX and has the same 4.388 final drive. The only exception to this rule seems to be Nissan in the 3.5 Altima & Maxima where the Nissan engineers widen the step between gears and gave it a super over drive to be able to used the torque of the V-6.

This is normally done by a custom gearbox shop by splitting the 5th gear into two gears to give a 6th. Weakens the gearbox, but not where it matters.
90mph ( cruising speed in UK ) is 5000rpm in 5th, I would love another gear.
I have been thinking the long ratio box from the Mx6 is a better option.
