hec (hgallegos915) and i live in the southern part of texas and if its not like this where your at let me describe it for you....water from 4 to 5 ".... hec already flooded his shi* and me well i kindaf just turned mine off as soon as i hit water the filter was soaked on the out side but only moist on the inside(SHORT RAM HKS).... the car was at normal operating temp so when i disconected the vaccum hose at a near by gas station it was dry water evaporated way before throttle body, left the car over night and the next morning everything was normal.... anyway now the problem is i cant get around at all, if i put stock set up back on a temporary basis, will that prevent me from flooding out? if you have pictures of the stock set up please post them because i dont even remeber exactly how it goes im not even sure if i have all the pieces to it.***** its still raining so if i need to move im driving like at 3 maybe 5 mph with a towel wrapped around my hks (SHORT RAM)

If you can take the last elbow off and mount the filter straight to the VAF, might help a little. All you want to do is raise the point of the filter above the water line. I wouldn't want to drive in anything too deep anyways, though. Water is thinner than the fluids, so it may leak past CV seals in the tranny and oil seals in the engine. Not to mention it'd definitely get the clutch through the dust plate since there's a slot in there. If the water had any oil or gas in it, it'd score your clutch.

With that much water I doubt you'll have any issues with oil or gas since they would float away in the first couple of hours of rain.
Make the intake as short as possible like Lakers said. As for the OEM, it will not stop water from coming in the intake, but is better than most CAIs. A short ram intake is better than OEM IMO b/c it will be a higher intake point than the OEM. Also, wrapping a towel around the filter is a bad idea since it will soak the water up and then you will suck all the water from the towel into the intake.
Just go slow...
Take some pics if you could. I've not seen that much wate around here ever, but sounds pretty nasty.
