Take the tranny out....
Please say you are taking the tranny out with the engine.... right?
Matt Fulghum tried to do his swap without removing the tranny and it was a mess.

A quote from his Cardomain site...
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/793483/3
First off, if anyone ever tells you that you can pull the engine without pulling the transmission as well..... you can probably see where I'm going with this. Sure, it's POSSIBLE, but it's an absolute pain in the a$$. I did it... after about a week of trying to find bolts, pushing things around, and trying to find the most important thing of all, time.
Friends don't let friends pull engines out sans transmission

you guys are lame. All you have to do is undo the front tranny mount (from the transmission), and the top tranny mount (under the battery pan, undo it from the transmission) and you can take the engine out without taking the tranny out... Come on now...

And BTW Perry, I met a guy who has seen a RWD 13BT MX-3.... I will not spill any of the details but the pics he had were tight...

Yah. Okay.
I have seen one too... but it was a Drag car and just a shell over a tube frame.
I have also seen one put in that 323 in Australia or New Zealand or something.
The AVERAGE/ ABOVE AVERAGE person does not have the fabrication skills or the money to do the conversion. A shop or rich person could probably do it with unlimited funds and fabrication skills.
Thats what I am saying with my signature... wayyyy to many kids/average joes/newbies come on this site and just think it can be done just because its a Mazda motor. And its like they used to ask it once a week. So, after a million times of saying no, I finally put it in my sig.

I must have had the miracle swap as I did not remove the tranny or loosen the trans in any way to get the B6 out and the BP in. At the time of the BP swap, I had an ATX so I don't know if that is the deciding factor or not. Although I do not see what difference it would have made.
So I know it is at least possible.

I just loosened the tranny bolts a lil bit and then pulled the tranny towards the driver side while pumping the crane and then she came out with out a problem. Now its clean engine bay time and finish the bp detailing then drop her in and wait for the turbo and all the goodies to come before I fire her up

i undid all the wires and hoses from the engine/tran and then unbolted the front subframe and struts then lifted the car up and rolled it all out

Good luck putting it back in that way... you will have fun trying to line the splines of the tranny back up.
Just wait, you will wish you had taken the tranny out too.
Seriously, good luck.
