Doubt it, but why bother all that work for 25hp? Of course swapping in a V6 into the older Protege's had been done, but this, I think, is a different chassis that goes from 99-03. It would probably be more cost effective to swap in the drivetrain parts from a MazdaSpeed Protege. But for your research, i'd look into the Protege forums, If anyone has swapped in any v6, it'll be the 2.5L (KLDE: 165hp, KLZE:198hp) instead, definitely more worth while, and installs exactly like the Mx3's 1.8L (that's the reason why we can easillu swap to those)

I think if you add a turbo, instead of a 2.5 swap, would make more sense. You would have to change alot more in the engine bay, than just the engine.

if you have swapped Honda engines before, then you should know what a pain in the A$$ this one would be. Talk about a wiring nightmare not to mention engine mounts etc.....Hondas are fairly easy to swap, but taking one look at that protege will yeild otherwise....

It's been done before. As a Ls-1 swap in a Rx-7. And a Harley Davidson powered festiva.
It's not easy, but yes it can be done.
I'd scrap the K8 and get a KL-ZE egine instead.

I've seen videos of V8 Rx-7, and have heard of harley Festiva's, but I've never heard or seen anthing about a H22, or any non Mazda b-series or K-series into an Mx-3
