Slicks?

Okay guys cut .8 seconds off my time this week. Yahoo went from 17.09 to 16.25. I know, not very fast. I have put poly bushings on the control arms and will be getting solid or poly engine mounts soon. Still got wheel hop. My question is would slicks be prudent with the car putting out only a little power over stock? Right now i'm running 205/40zr17 proxes4 toyos.
I have the stock 15" rims laying around.

15" semislicks would lower your times even more.
17s are heavy.
I noticed a huge drop in acceleration when I went from 14" wintertires to 18" summertires. And I mean huge. really noticeable.
(thats why I`m getting 15 or 16s with semislicks for trackdays.)

Got them from corksport, srd i think. The way easy way to pull your old rubber is to heat them up with a torch ( I used oxygen/acetalyne with a rosebud, lots of heat went fast), then they just pull out with pliers. But be carefull, the oem ones are filled with oil. drill a small hole into them and the oil will burst out. both the oil and burning them is a stinky smoky mess. do it in a well ventilated place.

The SRD bushings are very noisy and the ride is indeed harsher, I had them in for about 6 months until I realized I couldnt stand them anymore and put back in new OEM bushings.
