Does anyone know where to get a ecu map or some other way to bypass the huge restrictive air meter in the intake tube? I pulled mine and the car won't start without it....thanks

Yep u need that big hunk of whatever. Measures the amount of air aswell as temperature I beleive.

I have heard rumours of aftermarket ones used with a new programmed ECU.

But I think the cheapest method would be to swap it for an rx-7 unit (search and u will find)

It also has the fuel pump relay built in to it too. A kit to replace is ran about US$ 1500 for the signal converter + the cost of a GM MAP sensor which is about $29 but this was more that 10 years ago. Don't even think the signal converter is even made anymore. The other option a stand alone ECU and replacing all the mazda sensors with GM sensors
