Bumper paint

Is there a special (flexible) paint for bumper or is it the same as body paint?

I might get a front bumper from j/y but the body shop is asking $200+ to paint it red. Anybody know of a cheaper way for me (to do it myself)?

Thanks for all the help.

I was reading my DIY painting book this week to prepare for doing my paint this spring. It said the newer, expensive urethane paints don't need flex agents anymore. You only need it if you're getting acrylic or enamel paint, like all single stage paints.

However, if you're painting over a plastic bumper that doesn't already have paint on it, you'll want to use adhesion promoter before the primer goes on.

The bumper i am looking at has been primered already - so tell me if this sounds crazy - can i just buy a bunch of dupli-color 12 oz aerosol paint cans and clear coat cans and just spray the bumper. Would that even work?

I know that duplicolor has "Sunrise red" for mazda and it seems pretty close to my "Blaze red" color. (I sprayed a bit on my damaged bumper and it blends in very well).

Get the ACTUAL color custom mixed and do it right. It's not that expensive:
