If you had the money, what would you do to your MX3?

I would get a 3 rotor Rotary engine, sometype of AWD tranny, build up sometype of chassis system, turbo and make the MX3 a rear-engine based AWD car. Bye bye rear-seats.
I would also make sometype of vent system coming from the front to the rear to help the engine cool

Now, I know I have dissed rotary engines, but I have learned some stuff.

Anyway, a car like this would own at the Auto X

Personally, I'm on my way to that I want to do, it's just been 4 years in the making. After the tranny, next step is to redo the interior and seats and hopefully over the summer I'll work on my custom trunk. But after that, visual is pretty much done. The rest if drivetrain, where I'll be starting on a second motor for an all-motor project. 13.99s 1/4 Mile All-Motor is my goal for this Mx-3.

However, if i started from scratch again, i'd be tempted to do an AWD BPT, but weither to keep it on-road, or do a type of off-road rally setup would be the main question.

I wonder how big the rotor engine from the RX8 is. Or how about a 4 rotor engine?
What did the RX7s use? 3 rotor, not 2 rotor, right?

I wonder whats the biggest
A K8 or a 3 Rotor Rotary or a 4 Rotor Rotary

If I had the money I'd sell it and buy a DeLorean

I'd be happy with a quieter exhaust, an intake that works, replaced suspension ,and a paint job.
A small turbo or sc would make my day.

Seriously, thats all I want. I'm simple like that.

I don't have infinite money and that's what i'm going for... but this is the "Your a-- rich and bored, with a mx-3..."

A K8 or a 3 Rotor Rotary or a 4 Rotor Rotary
-K8 1.8 L - 130 hp

-12A - 1.1 L - 100hp (1970–1985) - 1st generation RX-7 and some seconds
-13BDEI - 1.3 L - 160hp(2 rotor, 4 injectors) (1973–2002) - Second gen Rx-7 and third gen
-13B-REW - 1.3 L - 280hp(Sequential Twin Turbo'd DEI) (1973–2002) - third gen Rx-7
-20B - 2.0 L - 300hp(three-rotor) (1990–x) - Cosmo and now the 2006 Rx-8 GT
-RENESIS - 1.3 L - 217hp (2004–) Rx-8

***^^^*** : all those motors, i believe, are lighter then the 4cyl or the v6...

-La mans 26B
WIKI-:
In 1991 this engine in a 787B became the first from outside the U.S. or Western Europe and the first (and so far only) car with a rotary engine to win outright the 24 hours of Le Mans race. It displaced 2622 cc and built 700 hp (522 kW) at 9000RPM. The engine design originates as two 13B's melded together with continually variable geometry intakes. The 26B's engine block can be purchased at retail from Mazdaspeed, but no internal parts are available to the general public.

This is the motor i was talking about... with a Dual TT Setup...

Those are very interesting faqs about Rotary engines. But what I mean by big, is big in size?
I am guessing the RX8 Rotary engine is still smaller then our K8s

You can't any information on the 20B Rx-8 GT? I can't find any information, they all say 1.3

unreleased... it's commin though...

either way... THEY ALL bolt to the same trannys.. again, i believe...
so you want a 20B in a Rx-8.. shell out some cash and it's done..

although the renesis with a TT kit is a MEAN mutha

I just so happen to have:
3 Rx-7 Engines... all 12A's; 1's rebuilt with race porting and a turbo :D
1 Mx-3 GS
and
1 Mx-3 RS...

I'll measure tommorow and tell you...I'll tell you now though... it will fit...you need a FWD Rotary car though for best results...steal the tranny,etc...If you want to put a rotary in your car allow me to suggest a late 90's JDM 13B because all the parts are still made... and with a turbo it'll put 500 to the wheels..

Also allow me to suggest how EASY it would be to put a shorty driveshaft and extend the tunnel down the car for a RWD setup...

So I see the RX8s have 3 Rotor engines while the Rx7s has 2 Rotor. Thats awesome. I still wouldnt mind putting in a 3 rotor RX8 engine in the MX3 and a RWD setup.
Dont those RX8 Rotarys retail for like $6k?

Anyway, are those 12As that you have easy to rebuild?
I wonder what would be easier to rebuild, a regular V shaped engine or Rotary engine?

A 2 rotor engine is in the RX-8. that is why it is only a 1.3L setup. Each rotor is 638cc.

I paid 1000 for a 81 and 2 spare 12a's
Paid 3000 for a rebuild race spec turbo'd 12a with fuel injection

There are no piston rings in a rotary... What fails are the apex seals between each section..

Rotary's are built like a loaf of bread...
