okay.. here's what you do: - Be warned.. this is HELLA-LENGTHY!
for the passenger side.. go get some tube holders from home depot.. they are like 2 bucks for a box of 24 or something like that..
also get a box of VERY tiny screws.. im talking like less than 1/8" in length.. and small enough to go through the small holes in the tube holders.
Take out your glove box.. put it in the drivers seat.
you will notice that at the bottom of where the glove box meets the rest of the front dash there is a small piece of plastic about 8 inches wide, and about 1.25 inches thick/deep. the bottom of this piece is flat.. which is great for mounting perfectly. So.. take your tube holders and screws and screw them UPWARD towards the windsheild... into the piece of plastic.
Then take your handy dandy dremel and use a cut off wheel to take the screw down to bearly poking out of the plastic.. then replace your glove box.. this will give the passenger side enough glow to glow all the way to the edge of the seat cusion.. anything in the floor boards will light up like a mofo! and your screws will never be seen because your glove box will hide them
This also gives you a clean look because the neon intensity is even in all areas.
the drivers side is WAY more difficult.. and i have not yet found a way to get these things to position good.. all i've done at this point was shoved them up under the steering bar.. and tucked it behind some wires.. it hasn't moved yet.. there is one place where you can use the same screw idea from the just under the little flat panel where alot of audio shops will mount LED's for alarms (you know the one im talking about).
here you'd have plenty of room for screws.. but they would probably be visible.. Your best bet in this case is to either use black flat top screws, or if you get the generic grade silver screws (like i did), just take a sharpie and color the tops black.
Also.. when you go in to ground your stuff.. there is TONS of places to ground above the steering bar... there is a huge wide open spot of body.. this is going to sound really tacky.. but i just used some electrical tape to tape a small open wire to it.. my neons have been in for about 2 years now and have had no problem.
- also.. i can't remember if you said you got NEONS or COLD CATHODES.. cold cathodes are nice because.. well they stay cold and don't generate heat.. which is good. cause.. uhh you dont' want your feet catching on fire while driving
