well ive had this simple yet interestin idea for the mx3 headlight for quite some time but now that im no longer an mx3 driver i can share this. i am sure ppl have already thought of this for sure but has anyone thought of taking the stock mx3 headlight housing and chroming it BLACK CHROME? and if it was possible (reflecting light beam in right direction) i was thinking of taking the headlight lens and getting clear lexan and vacuum form it to get a perfectly clear lens that is the exact same shape. all this turns into a perfectly clear lens with a black chrome housing....id love to see this happen to see the outcome of this. this would be so perfect with a black mx3!

hehe, do some research on vaccum forming lexan (or actually polycaronite). The machines cost upwards of $10,000.
The polycarbonite used on a headlamp lense is high grade stuff with a high melting point. Then the lense itself has a more than 90* angle on the bottom edge meaning you need a shrinking mold to recreate it. Companies are unwilling to create a mold and do a run without more than a 10,000 lense order, and that is with redesigning the cover without the goofy 130* angle on the bottom edge.
I checked into all this when producing my projector MX-3 lamps and needed a clear lense so that the projector wasn't refracted by the lense.

Also, you NEED the refraction from the lense with the stock lamp or you'll have no aimed light at all coming out.

Black chrome is not nearly as reflective as real chrome and would seriously deplete the lighting.

It would look neat, but no be very functional.
The JDM lamps use a black surround to get a darker lamp look, but the reflecter is still regular silver chrome.

well what about a projector light in it? i know the newer cars come like that without that refraction stuff..... but still im sure there could be some way to do it and itd be sweet if it happened

if u thought it was taht cool u could just get an extra set of lights, spray paint the inside black, put them in at a show and bam there u go
