To CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Folks tonight I got the deal of the century.. some of you will be envious.. some of you will congratulate me.. some of you will likely plot to kill me or even just hate me more than ever LOL

But tonight I scored a 1992 MX-3 GS, Blaze Red, 92k miles for.. get this.. $225.00 <--- that is NOT a typo!!!! She even has new tires on her. The interior is in decent condition.. the seats seem to be in good shape.. They have seat covers on them that I will remove tomorrow for a better inspection. The sunroof doesnt seem to work, and as expected the drivers side power window switch is shot (in pieces actually). But the front lip is flawless as are the headlights (they look almost new.. not cloudy at all) The car seems to have been recently repainted.. the paint is not faded at all. So whats the catch? How can this be?

Well she has a bit of body damage down the drivers side. A new drivers side front fender will need to be procured for her. The drivers door has a few small wrinkles that could probably be fixed.. but a door might be easier to find. And a little more damage to the panel right behind the drivers door.. same place as the minor damage on my RS.

So how did I find such a steal of a deal? Craigslist. :D I found an ad a couple of weeks ago entitled : "For sale Tires to fit Mazda MX-3 $175" So I read through the ad.. at the end of the ad was a small mention that whoever was going to buy the tires.. needed to provide old tires so that this car could be taken to the junk yard. So I responded asking how much they wanted for the entire car.. the lady responded that the junkyard had offered her $50 for the car.. so if I wanted to give her $225 to cover the money she had spent on the tires a couple of months back.. I could take the entire car.

Back to the good stuff... The suspension feels nice and tight.. much better than the suspension on my RS. Dunno yet if thats because the GS had so much better suspension or if its been replaced or if my RS is really that bad LOL The original owners manual is even still in the glove box :D There is really only one downside to this car.. for some reason.. I seem incapable of scoring a MX-3 that comes with a 5 spd MTX.. yeah.. thats right.. another freaking ATX that will need to be swapped out in the future LOL

Anyway... I will get some pics tomorrow and get them posted up so you guys can see what I found. Man I love craigslist :D I will leave you with a quote from a good friend of mine that helped me get the car this evening (he drove my truck home for me). When we got back to my place I let him take her for a spin around the block. When he returned he handed me the key and said "Man.. you must need to go in and change your shorts" I asked him why is that? He said "Cause if I had gotten that car for $225.00 I would have Sh*t my drawers!!" :D

lol.. I love craigslist.. I found my parts car on there too. 92Gs, same exact color as my car, fresh paint, every aftermarket accessory (metal door sills, floor mats, pedels, clear markers/turns, etc), no tears in the interior, windows/mirrors worked, moterized reversable face plate stereo with high end speakers. Only $500.

I love that giddy feeling. Congrats on a great find.

Actually.. first up is the minor electrical issues.. second will be the body work.. maybe not paint immediately.. but new fender and door. I can get some Blaze Red from Mazda and do a passable job doing a temperary job on them (if I do well enough.. I will get the pin stripping redone as well as the rear quarter.) Then I will be turning my attention to the running gear. Though the K8 in this car is in excellent condition.. I did a compression test today and it blew 180-185 in all 6 cylinders. That ATX is coming out pretty much immediately. Likely I wont even put 1k miles on this engine and tranny combo before the new engine & tranny go in. The real question for me is this...

To boost.. or not to boost.. that is the question. Once I make up my mind.. I can move forward on sourcing the correct engine. I would love to emmulate the boosted KLZE that babyblue has done.. but.. I dont have the funds or the time to go that far into it. So likely.. I'll do a mild build on a KLDE and boost that if I go boost. I have considered going with a NA KLDE and sourcing some KL31 cams for it and maybe a millenium intake. I havent researched this all completely yet.. so this is just off the top of my head and I dont know if this would give the best results for the KLDE or not. Unfortunately.. I dont have a garage to work in.. so at the moment.. everything has to be done in my carport. Since I live in a duplex.. I have a neighbor that occupies one of the two bays.. sooo.. I have 3 vehicles and 1 bay to work on them in LOL Barry said he would post up some pics I sent him here this evening.. should be up in this thread soon. Cheers

tunes... I will be firing up my n/a DE in ~ 3 weeks if the weather is good enough at that point.... it has kl31 cams, mild p&p with port matched IM .... i wont be going to a dyno but i know there is some willing ze'rs to test it against. Depending on how it works out for me you can have a little something extra to make your decision :)

ATX or not, that's an awesome find. Closest I've found is $1000, and it had rust holes through the B-billars  Congrats on that one, man!
