What are the symptoms of a blown head gasket? Our car wa taken to the shop where they said a spark plug was fouled so the replaced them and then they did a diagnostic and said the head gasket was blown.. the diagnostic cost 170 dollars which seems very high to me.... we picked up the car and drove it home and it drove fine.... we still have it and ive even started it up and moved it around the parking a lot a few times to let the plow come through when it was snowing.... it doesnt seem to me that there was any lost compression or a blown head gasket. what do you all think?

symptoms would be oil in the coolant and/or coolant in the oil. also blowing white smoke or if you see bubbles coming out of that little hose in your coolant overflow tank.

yea i dunno thats what they told me thats y i was alittle skeptical about the 170 dollar diagnostic fee..... lol i checked the oil seems like its alittle watery, the temp guage is alright but the light flickers on and off.. from reading your replies and other things online sounds like it might just be a blow head gasket

Ahh water and oil don't mix....
If water ws in the oil or vis versa you would a see a milky beige or tan slime on top of the oil or coolant. The next time the engine is cold open the radiator cap. The fluid should be a clear green or sometimes orange cold depending on the brand of coolant used. Look to see if there is any around the neck and cap. Then start the engine and look for bubbles. Let it run for a few minutes but shut it down before it get to full operating temp. Could be just a bad sensor
