speeodometer wire

Post by fieromx3 »

well srry if this topic was covered already but probly has and am searching but i finshed my kl-de swap and have my atx hooked up to it.
my hold button is flashing but the car car runs good but if we floor it the tranny seems to have trouble shifting with are foot to the floor.
if we drive it normally it shifts drives nice but sometimes the rpm's will jump and when that happens i let off the gas and it shifts. me and ,y dad did take some tranny fluid out but we topped it back up and my speedo gauge isnt working and my dad thinks he may have missed a vacuum line but im going to try and pull some codes.

o and the tranny was rebuilt like 20 000 kms ago

yup, you must've missed a connection somewhere...., probably explains the full-noise shift problem too

as for the hold light...., are you using the K8 or KL ecu? if it's the K8 you're using, the the light will be for the missing connection. However, if it's the KL ecu....., get used to it!

if you want your tranny to work properly with a KL, you need to use a K8 ecu and an AFC (an FPR might work too?) or splash out an get a stand alone

I know in the manual somewhere is a test to pull tranny codes its like the FEN to gnd or something, but verify before you attempt this by reading the manual 1st.

It may have been in the troubleshooting section, not sure. But I have seen it somewhere.

ok i see a connector for the speedometer sensor but where do i connect the sensor into? like i see the sensor and the wire coming out of it with the orange connector but where is the other connector located? i dont see anything. could this make my tranny to run a little un normal? like not shifting proerly and all?

The online manual page k-116 shows that there should be another connector possibly coming in from the harness close to firewall for the speedometer sensor.

I am not sure what the side effects are other than speedomoeter not working. But it would make total sense if mazda designed the controller to base the shifting scheme on engine rpm and vehicle speed....
Like if the rpm is high and speed is high shift to 4th gear and if the rpm is low and the speed is slowing then shift to a lower gear or something like that.

once you get the speedo prob sorted, get onto installing that megasquirt, otherwise you'll find your engine flooding

good work...., now take care of that tranny!
