:( Dont know what I did wrong

Well the alt and ac belts went on... but I ust had done something wrong cause the alt belt shredded into pieces 2 days later.... Does anyone know why this could happen? The belt was tight and it was aligned the whole way around. I know I must of done something wrong... anyways I dont think I will be replacing any more belts ne time soon lol... time to go to the mechanic let me know thanks.

Sounds like you over tightened the belt. When the belt is on snug.. press down on top of the belt.. it should go down no more or less than 1/2". This is called Belt Deflection. If you have it to loose.. the belt will squeal.. if you have it too tight.. they tend to shred and come apart. Also I have heard that certain types of belts dont last as well as others. I used a Gates belt on my last change.. seems to be fine. Cheers.
